Peter Hirsch, MD – Medical Director

The Trauma Recovery Program at Del Amo specializes in the “Trauma Model” of treatment. This model utilizes cognitive therapies to guide the client towards self awareness and trauma resolution.

The Trauma Recovery Program is designed as a highly-structured inpatient program which can be stepped down to a partial hospitalization program (PHP). The goal of treatment is to use the structure and therapeutic processes of the trauma model for stabilization and then to generate improved functioning and a return to outpatient therapy.

Within the program clients learn to identify conflicts and to unlearn distorted thoughts related to trauma and identity. This program does not utilize regressive therapies.

The National Treatment Center Trauma PHP may be utilized as either a “step down” level of care assisting the patient with integration back into their community and may also be used as a way of preventing unnecessary inpatient hospitalization. All patients are screened by a qualified professional for appropriateness for program.

While in treatment, each patient receives an individualized treatment plan that is evaluated on a regular basis by members of the multidisciplinary treatment team directed by the patient’s psychiatrist.
