Senior Mental Health Program
Depression, anxiety, grief and changes in cognitive functioning can be challenging for older adults. The senior mental health program at Del Amo Hospital addresses the specific needs of senior adults (55+) that require intensive behavioral health care as they wrestle with major life transitions. Our goal is to help patients improve coping skills and gain the insight and tools to help restore, maintain and enhance their quality of life. Our providers are educated and trained in assessing and treating the behavioral health needs of older adults. Our interdisciplinary treatment team consists of psychiatrist, nurses, social workers and other mental health professionals that understand the challenges that may come with aging.
Specialized treatment includes:
- Assessment, diagnosis and stabilization of acute psychiatric and or substance use issues.
- Medical evaluation by board-certified internist
- Medication therapy
- Family and group counseling
- Discharge planning
Conditions we treat include:
- Bipolar disorder
- Substance use issues
- Other psychiatric conditions
